The Giniyjawarrni Yoowaniya Riwi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC are the prescribed body corporate for the land that is Gooniyandi, Kija and mixed Gooniyandi/Kija country.  

On 17 December 2018, Colvin J made a positive native title determination concerning an area of land approximately 2212 square kilometres, around 420km east of Broome and 843km north-east of Port Hedland. The determination recognised the native title holders' exclusive and non-exclusive native title rights. 

The Bundjalung of Byron Bay Aboriginal Corporation (Arakwal) RNTBC hold native title in trust for the native title holders.
