The Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation are the registered native title body corporate and manage and hold native title in trust for the Kabi Kabi peoples. 

On 8 August 2023, the Federal Court of Australia made orders to alter divide an application into three parts; Part A, B and C. On 17 June 2024, Collier ACJ made a positive native title determination regarding Part A. This determination related to an area of approximately 10,280 square kilometres, generally from the southern extent of Bribie Island, Sandstone Point and Elimbah Creek catchment area, to Cooloola National Park, Curra State Forest, Mary River and Isis Rivers, and west to the Brisbane Range, the Burnett Range and Coast Range.  

The determination stated that the native title rights and interests do not confer possession, occupation, use and enjoyment of the land or waters on the native title holders to the exclusion of all others.
