Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC
On 6 October 2022, the Federal Court of Australia made two different determinations, both which related to the larger Cape York #1 United claim. The Cape York #1 United claim covers the majority of the area of Cape York, covering various types of tenure, including pastoral lease, protected areas, reserves and areas of unallocated State land. Relevantly though, Mortimer J recognised the rights of the Gudang Yadhaykenu People and nominated the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Aboriginal Corporation to hold native title in trust for the benefit of the native title holders.
Ayapathu Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC
The Ayapathu Aboriginal Corporation holds native title in trust for the Ayapathu people. The Court recognised the Ayapathu people’s native title rights and interests on 6 July 2022. That proceeding formed part of the Cape York United #1 claim.
The Ayapathu people have, other in relation to water, the exclusive right to possession, occupation, use and enjoyment of the determination area.
Jinparrak Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC
The Jinparrak Aboriginal Corporation manage and act as an agent for the, Japuwuny, Parlakuna-Palkinykarni and Yilyilyimawu landholding groups in relation to native title matters.
On 8 September 2020, White J made a positive native title determination in relation to an area in NT Portion 2653 held under Perpetual Pastoral Lease No. 1002 and known as the Wave Hill Pastoral Lease. The area is in the Gurindji locality of the central region of the Northern Territory and is about 5,492 kilometres squared.
Giniyjawarrni Yoowaniya Riwi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC
The Giniyjawarrni Yoowaniya Riwi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC are the prescribed body corporate for the land that is Gooniyandi, Kija and mixed Gooniyandi/Kija country.
On 17 December 2018, Colvin J made a positive native title determination concerning an area of land approximately 2212 square kilometres, around 420km east of Broome and 843km north-east of Port Hedland. The determination recognised the native title holders' exclusive and non-exclusive native title rights.
