Overview

The Nguddaboolgan Native Title Aboriginal Corporation administers land owned by the Djungan People. The Djungan People’s rights were recognised by the Federal Court of Australia to more than 182,000 hectares of land in North Queensland. The land includes Land Act reserves, pastoral leases and some leasehold and unallocated State Land situated in and around Mount Mulligan, west of Mareeba.

The Federal Court has recognised the Djungan Peoples exclusive rights to possess, occupy and use the land. The Djungan People also hold non-exclusive rights over lands and waters, which permits the Djungan People to be present on, camp, travel, hunt, gather, conduct ceremonies, maintain places of importance and significance and teach in accordance with traditional laws and customs, for domestic and non-commercial purposes.
