Overview

The Darumbal People Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC holds land in trust for the Darumbal People of Central Queensland. Their native title rights and interests were recognised in Hatfield on behalf of the Darumbal People v State of Queensland (No 3) [2016] FCA 723 on 21 June 2016.

A consent determination was reached which recognised the Darumbal people as having non-exclusive rights to approximately 2,525 square kilometres of land and waters in and around Rockhampton, Yeppoon, and Marlborough.

The native title application was lodged by the Darumbal people with the National Native Title Tribunal in June 1997, and was accepted for registration in July 2000. A second application was filed in 1999, and the two claims were combined in March 2013. In July 2013, the combined claim was separated into Part A and B, with Part B representing the claim area shared by the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala People #2 claim.
