The Barkandji Native Title Group Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC holds native title in trust for the Barkandji and Malyangapa peoples of Far Western NSW. This determination arose from the largest native title claim to date in NSW, which took nearly 18 years to resolve. The Mutawintji and Mungo National Parks, while part of the traditional lands of the Barkandji people, were excluded from this claim area by agreement between the RNTBC and the NSW Government, and are expected to be the focus of a future native title claim.

It was determined that native title had been extinguished across most of the claim, but hundreds of non-contiguous exclusive and non-exclusive interest areas were recognised. For the most part, these are clustered around the communities of Broken Hill, Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Menindee, as well as the entire length of the Darling River within the claim north of its junction with the Great Darling Anabranch.
